New year delivery - ‘One-stop-shop’ for diagnostic care at Walton Hospital moves a step closer: The final delivery of five modular structures has now arrived at Walton Hospital’s Community Diagnostic Centre; completing the outer shell of the purpose-built development, which will offer thousands of patients across North Derbyshire additional diagnostic appointments each year. Gareth's nomination said: “Gareth has demonstrated exceptional commitment to patient care by ensuring swift discharges while effectively addressing individual needs. His proactive approach has consistently gone above and beyond standard expectations, reflecting a deep understanding of the importance of timely transitions in care."
Well done to the entire Florence Nightingale Community Hospital Sexual Health Team who are joint winners of our latest ROSE award. The person who nominated the team said: “I attended following a sexual assault and was made to feel so cared for and looked after. Every single staff member from the reception team to the HCAs and doctor I saw really were fantastic. The experience I had here really was something I won't forget. They all made me feel calm and comfortable and were extremely understanding during a very difficult time for me. I can't thank them enough.”
Drop-in to a flu clinic this week: You can book online to have your flu vaccination here. There are roaming flu clinics this week all over Derbyshire - you can see all the times and dates for each clinic here, please feel free to drop-in to any of these flu clinics at any time. Virtual Leading With Kindness workshop - book now! As people, we all have a responsibility for the way we behave; at work, the responsibility is amplified, and this applies no matter what your role. Check out and book yourself onto one of these Leading With Kindness bitesize sessions - we are all leaders when it comes to kindness and these sessions are open to all staff, not just those in management positions. They are really practical sessions which will be helpful in your day-to-day work. See this flyer for a summary of the sessions and booking link.
Evidence search service available for all DCHS staff: The Library and Knowledge Service offer a specialised evidence search service. Just let them know the information you require, and they can do a systematic search of the available evidence on your behalf. They carry out searches using databases such as Medline, CINAHL & Embase to find the best available evidence to support you in your work, professional development or study. Search topics can be clinical or non-clinical.
What is an evidence search? An evidence search is a systematic and thorough search of all types of published evidence, relevant to a specific topic in order to identify the best available evidence and research.

Research and Innovation group (RIG) meetings throughout 2025: Our Research and Innovation group provides a place for all with an interest in research to come together to educate and learn from one another, whilst sharing research that is happening across DCHS. The Oliver McGowan mandatory training in learning disabilities and autism tier 2 is now available to book at various locations throughout January and February. All sessions are available on ESR for patient-facing staff to book onto now.
Quality Conversations (QC) - spotlight on QC for mental health, coming up in February: Do you want to have more confidence to talk to people about their mental health? Join one of our QC for mental health sessions, where you'll gain strategies to navigate these important discussions with confidence and empathy. Sessions are running on the following dates:

- Tuesday 11 February, 9.15am - 12.30pm
