MS Teams telephony update: All sites apart from Cavendish Hospital and Buxton Hospital are now using MS Teams Phone and MS Teams Desktop Phones Client. The plan is to continue with the High Peak week commencing 28 April. If you still have a Cisco phone on your desk please let the team know by emailing DCHST.msteamsphonehelp@nhs.net and giving them the following information: site, office number, and service.
It’s important that you notify us of any changes you require to your phone line, we will be leaving Vodaphone at the end of May and if you haven’t let us know you will lose your phone connection altogether. Click here for the project update and help guides.
National Quarterly Pulse Survey (NQPS): Our latest NQPS is now live and will run until Wednesday 30 April. Look out for an email from ‘picker_surveys@picker.org’ in your inbox to complete your survey. It’s an opportunity to share how you’re feeling, allowing us to track our performance against the People Promise. It only takes a few minutes to complete and complements other employee listening tools. Join the ‘Making Connections - Reciprocal Mentoring’ Programme 2025: Looking to grow professionally while sharing your lived experience? This programme offers a two-way mentoring experience where both partners learn, collaborate, and support each other’s development. April's Derbyshire Dialogue: Come along to the next Derbyshire Dialogue, taking place on Microsoft Teams on 16 April 2025, 1pm – 2pm. Book your place here. This session will focus on community pharmacy services and we will hear from Paula Whitehurst, community pharmacy integration programme manager. Community pharmacy is evolving - by September 2026 all newly qualified pharmacists will be independent prescribers on the day of their registration.

19 May farmers' MOT day: Farming men and women in Derbyshire are being invited for a free health MOT check at Bakewell Agricultural and Business Centre on Monday 19 May from 9am to 1pm. They will have the chance to speak to healthcare professionals on a range of health issues relevant to them. The aim of the free health MOT Day is to target farmers and farm workers who may not usually take the time to look after their own health as well as they could, or who just want to find out what NHS services are available. National Patient Safety Syllabus Level 1 training: As part of our commitment to patient safety, we would like to remind all staff about the mandatory National Patient Safety Syllabus Level 1 training requirement. This training is essential to maintain organisational compliance and ensure staff are up-to-date on patient safety standards.
Key Information:
- Level 1 training: This training must be completed every three years. The syllabus was first introduced in 2022, so staff who were in post at that time will be required to repeat the level 1 e-learning this year.
- Renewal deadline: There are currently around 300 staff members due to renew this training prior to the end of May 2025.
- Action required: Please check your training status and plan time to complete the e-learning module when due to ensure compliance and maintain patient safety standards.
Inclusion and Belonging conference reminder: We’re hosting the next Inclusion & Belonging conference on Wednesday 11 June (9am) at The Post Mill Centre in South Normanton. The DCHS Admin People’s Charter: The admin forum has now been running for just over a year, with regular virtual meetings. You can see the summary of the last meeting here. Don't forget the in-person admin forum event on 23 April to celebrate National Admin Professionals Recognition Day - book your place here. The plan for the morning involves some networking activities, to help attendees make connections with admin colleagues from other teams. There will also be some guest speakers putting on taster sessions for quality improvement and active bystander training. You can also have career conversations, mentoring and coaching advice.
Warp-It: Warp-It is the waste reuse programme which makes it easy for services in DCHS to claim surplus items from, or give them to, other services within the Trust.
There are currently many items available for staff to claim and new items are added frequently. A list of active items is now available for viewing via the procurement intranet page. AI session for parents: Colleges in Derbyshire are running public AI sessions for parents and the invitation is extended to all DCHS staff. DCHS staff who intend to use AI as part of their role should read the DCHS AI and automation governance policy here.
Dawn Bradley's Marathon: Dawn Bradley, manager of the Snowdrop Ward at Walton Hospital, has finally secured her spot in the London Marathon after running in Manchester and completing the marathon there in 3:26. Running the London Marathon has been a lifelong dream for Dawn and after 12 years of being denied a spot through the public ballot, she finally has her place. A keen musician herself, Dawn has introduced OPUS musical therapy on the ward, with the help from charitable funds. Any money raised will go towards continuing this service.
