Help shape how we support patients and share your experience: At DCHS, we are committed to continuously improving how we respond to patient safety incidents. As part of this, we are aligning with the national Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) developed by NHS England. To bring this to life locally, we’ve developed our Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP) — a tailored approach that reflects the needs and priorities of our services. Our current focus is around the "safety netting" advice we provide. NHS safety netting includes includes the guidance we give patients on what to do if their symptoms change or if they have ongoing concerns.
To ensure our approach is informed by real experiences, we’ve created a short survey to understand how safety netting advice is currently being delivered across DCHS.
If you are a patient-facing member of staff, clinical or non-clinical, we would be extremely grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete the survey here.

Oliver McGowan mandatory training in learning disability and autism: There are different tiers related to the Oliver McGowan mandatory training.
Every member of staff MUST complete the e-learning (tier 1, part 1). Non-patient-facing staff are required to complete a one-hour interactive online webinar (tier 1, part 2).
Staff who provide direct patient care are required to complete the full day, face-to-face session (tier 2). You are not required to complete the webinar as well. These are bookable via the NCORE tab on ESR or directly through the website. If it asks for payment details, choose any option (NCORE know to ignore this).
Your ESR will be tagged to the appropriate session, which you are required to attend.
We are aware, that the tier 2 courses are currently fully booked and we are aiming to add some more sessions with bookable places. If there are any queries, please contact Gemma Nash (lead trainer) at gemma.nash6@nhs.net

Why not take some time for yourself, with the Library Book Club?: The Book Club is an online community where members talk about and recommend books (and sometimes biscuits) with each other on MS Teams chat. Once every two months the club meet at lunchtime online to discuss one of the books from the Royal Derby Hospital library collection. These are chosen by popular vote so that everybody has a chance of influencing what we read. It's a fun, casual environment where you can give as much or as little as you like. You can even simply sit back and enjoy the show.
Check out what the book club is up to and sign up today. You can also wade into their discussions here. If you need any help, they are available by phone, email or chat.
