Still chance to get your flu jab: Cases of flu continue to rise but there is still time to get your flu jab if you haven’t already. We’ll be running our vaccination clinics throughout January so please do take the chance to get vaccinated and help protect yourself, the community and those who rely on our services. ESR maintenance: ESR will be unavailable from 6 pm on Friday 2 January, until 11.59 pm on Sunday 4 January 2026 for essential maintenance and updates.

Swadlincote Health Centre parking: From January 6, the bus park and car park with be closed for up to 14 weeks for refurbishment. The nearest car park is Sainsburys, and daily parking can be purchased at Sainsbury’s for reasonable prices. Weekly parking Monday to Friday costs £11 and a monthly pass costs £39. All staff are eligible to claim back for parking elsewhere by keeping receipts etc.

The diabetes education team were recently awarded the titles below in the XPert Health annual awards:

1st place - greatest reduction in cardiovascular disease risk at 6 months
1st place greatest reduction in cardiovascular disease risk at 12 months .

Congratulations to Maggie Easson from the Heanor health visiting team in Amber Valley was awarded the ROSE award for November.

Maggie's nominee said ' There are not enough words to describe just how truly and utterly wonderful Maggie is. Maggie came into my life shortly after the loss of my mother and birth of my daughter, she has pulled me through the darkest and most difficult time in my life, adding the much needed light to get me through. She has done this by providing the support I needed without me even knowing what I needed, this might be just words of comfort and guidance, supporting with my daughter or just being the absolute shining light she is. Maggie exudes nothing but pure joy and love wherever she goes. There isn’t a soul I would have preferred to have beside me other than Maggie, and the health visiting team are incredibly lucky to have someone so precious on the team, I don’t know where I would be without her, she will always be an incredibly special person to me, for the rest of my life. She has given me the encouragement to pursue a nursing career for myself, and if I can be even a quarter of the nurse she is, then I know I will do good. Maggie you are incredible, never forget that, you have saved me in more than one way.
